655 Color Guard in Ann Arbor July 4, 2015 Parade
Friends of 655 began in 2011 with the desire to raise awareness and funds for the cadets (ages 12-21) of the Maj Kevin A Adams Memorial Composite Squadron, the Ann Arbor based group of the Civil Air Patrol. Friends is composed of parents of cadets and the cadets themselves, and has conducted several fundraising projects throughout the years including raising support for Wreath's Across America and various Red Cross projects. Friends hosts cadets participation in various community service projects throughout the year as well.
Friends has been able to provide cadets with scholarships to both summer encampments and National Cadet Special Activities since its inception. We have also completely outfitted the squadron's Color Guard Team who won first place in the Michigan Wing Cadet Competition two years in a row and made it's first trip to National Competition in July. Freinds also helps cadets with the purchase of uniform and accessories as well as many other activities they otherwise would not be able to afford.
Growth of the Squadron
The Maj Kevin A Adams Memorial Composite Squadron has seen significant growth since its inception in 2010, and maintains its primary goal of providing support throughout Washtenaw County with Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and its Cadet Programs. The squadron has outgrown its meeting facilities at the Ann Arbor airport, the Red Cross building and now is stretching its meeting capacity at the Army Reserve Center on Industrial Boulevard in Ann Arbor.
Building Project for 2016
Since the use of property has been donated to the squadron, one of the major goals of Friends of 655 is to raise funds for the beginning of a building project to house this amazing squadron of cadets and their senior member counterparts. If you would like to make a tax-deductable contribution to Friends of 655 to assist us in our missions for 2016 please scroll down the page. Friends of 655 is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
